A Quick Photo Check Before Leaving the Classroom
Before bringing your class to Picture Day, take just a minute to give everyone a quick "photo check."
A few simple adjustments before students reach the camera can make a big difference in the finished portrait.
Look for things such as:
- Jackets or hoodies covering school shirts
- Sweatshirts tied around waists
- Hats or caps (unless approved by the school)
- Name badges or lanyards that shouldn't appear in the portrait
- Gum or candy
- Hair that can be quickly smoothed
- Glasses that could use a quick cleaning
If you know a parent requested a particular hairstyle, outfit, or accessory, your reminder can help make sure everything looks just as intended.
You Know Your Students Best
Teachers often notice things our photographers simply can't.
Maybe a student always wears their glasses, a parent spent extra time on a hairstyle that morning, or a child is especially shy in front of the camera.
Those little details help us create portraits families will love.
If you notice something that doesn't look quite right before a student sits down, please let us know. We'd much rather make a quick adjustment before the picture is taken than discover it afterward.
Helping Our Youngest Students
For preschool and elementary students, having a familiar face nearby can make all the difference.
If possible, we appreciate teachers remaining near the photography area to help:
- Encourage shy students
- Help nervous children feel comfortable
- Get students looking toward the camera
- Notice messy faces, runny noses, or food around the mouth
- Straighten collars or clothing when needed
- Offer a reassuring smile or familiar voice
Children often relax much more quickly when someone they know is close by.
